KEEP YOUR WEBSITE AHEAD OF THE CURVE:

WordPress Care & Support Plans

“I am so excited to maintain my website!”

– Nobody Ever

Let’s be real – maintaining your WordPress website is not very glamorous. But it is crucial for its security, performance, and functionality.

Your website is only as strong as its weakest link, and usually that link is the most out-of-date component.

Regular updates to plugins, themes, and the WordPress core are essential to patch vulnerabilities and prevent security breaches. And these are only part of a proper maintenance schedule.

So, what happens if no one is making regular software updates to your site?

If you’re letting your website just sit there and exist, it will eventually succumb to hackers and malware, potentially resulting in:

Q

Data loss

Q

Downtime

Q

Damage to your reputation

Additionally, outdated plugins and themes can cause compatibility issues, leading to broken features and a poor user experience.

(I’ve seen it happen, and it’s not pretty.)

By proactively maintaining your WordPress site, you can ensure that it remains secure, fast, and optimized for both visitors and search engines.

But do you have the time and capacity to do this consistently?

For most entrepreneurs, this is just one more spinning plate to manage. From mildly annoying to absolutely overwhelming, maintaining your website is one more task in your business that takes your focus off of what you do best.

We can remove the overwhelm with our WordPress Care & Support plans so that you can focus on your business.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do you provide care and support for sites besides those built on WordPress?

No. I specialize in WordPress and do not provide care and support services for any other website platform.

Why do I need to keep my website software updated and secured?

Much like keeping your body healthy, the work of keeping a website healthy and fortified against attacks is never done. Here are five reasons for regular website maintenance.

How do we get started?

If I built your site: Click the “Join Now” button under your chosen plan above. You will be led to a short form to complete. Once you have submitted this form, you will receive an email with a link to the WordPress Care and Support Plan Agreement. Once you sign this agreement, you will be directed to set up monthly payments.

If I did not build your site, or if you want to have more than one website on your plan, please contact me at liz@lizlee.com and I will respond to you with next steps.

Are there any setup fees?

If I built your website and you are signing up within one year of the build, there are no setup fees.

If I built the website and you are signing up one year or more after the build, there will be a $99 setup fee as I will need to update and install software, clean up the database and perform backups, among other tasks.

If I did not build your website, there will be a $199 setup fee as I will need to familiarize myself with your site and its tools, perform a software audit, complete any tech updates needed and prepare your site to be properly maintained.

What if I pass on the plan?

While our Website Care and Support plan is strongly recommended due to the crucial nature of security, optimization, updates, backups, and support for your website, it is not mandatory. However, if you choose to decline the plan, you will be fully responsible for these aspects of your website’s upkeep.

Can I join the plan if I originally pass?

Yes, you’re welcome to join the plan later if you change your mind! If you decide to sign up after the initial period, we’ll be happy to have you and will ensure your site is secure and well-maintained. Information about potential setup fees for onboarding after one year can be found in the FAQ above.

Does my monthly support time roll over?
No, the monthly support fee is necessary to ensure I’m available for you throughout the month. That said, I understand that your needs may change. If you find you’re not fully utilizing your support time, I’m happy to work with you and adjust your plan to a more suitable option.
Do all Website Care and Support plans include hosting?

Yes. If I manage your hosting, I can access, monitor, and support your website much more effectively. However, I understand that some of my clients may be locked into a hosting plan elsewhere, or simply may be happy with their current hosting provider. This does not prevent you from signing up for a plan with us, but please note the following:

    1. The pricing is the same for your plan even if you choose to host elsewhere.
    2. You will be responsible for purchases and renewals of your site’s SSL certificate, as well as licenses for your preferred security software and backup plugin.
How do I submit a request?

Just send an email to liz@lizlee.com with your domain name and a brief description of your request in the subject line.

I logged into my site and I saw a few updates that need to be made. Should I go ahead and do those myself?

Please, no. When I go in to make updates, I go through a specific process developed over years of experience with WordPress sites to ensure that all of your tools continue to “place nicely” together. At times, I will wait to make certain updates because there is a bug in the newest version of the software, and the developers are rushing to fix the bug and release a more stable update. If you see an issue with your site that you believe would be fixed by updating a tool, please reach out to me so that I can take a look.

Can I upgrade or downgrade my plan later?

Yes, you can upgrade or downgrade at any time; simply email me at liz@lizlee.com and we can set it up for the next billing cycle.

Do you help with email issues?

As I do not host email or provide email services, the only involvement I would have in your email is to ensure that the proper records are listed in your DNS settings so that you can send and receive email through your chosen provider. I recommend Google Workspace for email as their support and knowledge base has proven to be very helpful for me and for my clients.

Do you help with IT issues?

I help with issues only as they relate directly to your WordPress website and account. Troubleshooting issues with external services such as email marketing platforms, scheduling apps, etc. are best done through a VA who works with those tools regularly.

Will this plan make my website unhackable?

No website is 100% unhackable, no matter how much protection or maintenance it has. However, websites that are regularly updated and maintained are much less likely to fall victim to attacks.
The main purpose of our Website Care and Support plans is preventative, with an understanding that at some point, your site may still be hacked or will experience technical issues.
In the unlikely event that your site is hacked while on our plan, I will clean it up or restore a recent backup of your site if necessary.* Most repairs will fall within the auspices of your plan, but if significant technical support is required beyond your plan, or if you have taken actions that make the site more vulnerable, additional fees may be charged. Examples of these rare cases include but are not limited to:

  • You or someone else you’ve given access to your site has added conflicting plugins against our recommendations and an update of one or more of them causes the site to crash.
  • You have not kept up with the license renewals on your site’s tools, making updates of those tools impossible and thereby leaving your site vulnerable to attacks through outdated code.
  • You’ve made a risky change on the site without consulting us.
  • You have chosen to host your site on a host with no firewall or security monitoring.

*Additional charges may apply to malware cleanup and site restoration if you have chosen to host your site elsewhere.

What if I only require occasional content updates?
For those clients who need occasional one-off content updates, I offer flexible hourly support. The rate for this support depends on the urgency required for these updates. If they are not urgent, I will batch the one-off requests and address them when I have an opening in my schedule.
What’s not included in this service?

Our WordPress Care & Support service is extensive, but it does NOT include the following:

TECHNICAL

  • Repair of issues caused by the client (for example, issues resulting from plugins you have added or by you doing any software or content updates yourself)
  • Moving your website to another host
  • Purchasing plugins, license keys, or extensions
  • Build-outs and plugin/theme development, including the built-out of new major functionality on an existing site (i.e. setting up an online store, rebuilding existing content through a different page builder, or custom-coding a new plugin to provide new functionality)
  • Domain name changes
  • Integrations or support of existing integrations

CONTENT & DESIGN

  • Graphic design
  • Editing images other than cropping and/or resizing
  • SEO services
  • Writing or providing copy for posts, pages, etc.
  • Changes to the design of the website
  • Addition of new pages (but we will add simple blog posts if you provide the content)
  • Adding new forms
  • Installation of new themes
Do you provide a price break for multiple websites?
If you want to have more than one website on your plan, please contact me at liz@lizlee.com and I will respond to you with next steps.
What are the payment terms?
When you purchase your plans, your payment method will be stored for future monthly payments. Should your automatic payment fail, all services will be paused until payment is completed. You will need to provide a new payment method and process a successful payment to resume services.
Are there any additional costs?

Your WordPress Care & Support Plan covers the services outlined above. There are often other costs associated with maintaining a website that you would be required to pay directly to vendors, which include but are not limited to email hosting, domain registration and renewal, or licenses for design assets such as fonts or stock photos outside of those provided through our design packages.

What is the "preferred pricing" I get on other services if I subscribe to a plan?

As a subscriber to a WordPress Care & Support plan, you can enjoy discounted rates on large scale projects as well as hourly work (including work that covers task time beyond that which is allotted in your plan).

Large scale project discounts are on a case-by-case basis and will depend on how long you have been a continuous subscriber.

For hourly work, you can enjoy discounted rates as soon as you sign up! Here are my hourly rates for non-subscribers and subscribers:

Urgent Tasks

$177 (non-subscribers)
$144 (subscribers)

Not So Urgent Tasks

$133 (non-subscribers)
$111 (subscribers)

What are your response times?
I will respond within 1-2 business days in most cases. If you have a time sensitive request, please mark it as such in the subject of your email request. I will do my best to accommodate your timeline, but if I am unable to meet your target date/time, I will let you know right away.
How often will you run updates on my site?
I will check and update each site weekly for the Premium and Advanced plans and monthly for the Starter plan. I often wait a week or two after major updates are released to allow developers time to fix any issues before applying them to your site.
Where can I review the full terms of service?

You can find the WordPress Care & Support Plans terms HERE.

What is your cancellation/refund policy?

You may cancel at any time and your service will conclude at the end of the current billing cycle. To cancel, simply send an email request to liz@lizlee.com. We will perform a final update, security scan, and backup of your website. After two weeks, our license keys will be deactivated, and you will need to purchase your own licenses for any premium software and plugins you wish to continue using.

Please know that if you cancel your plan, you will be fully responsible for:

  • Ensuring your website’s platform and plugins are consistently updated to prevent security vulnerabilities.
  • Making regular backups of your website to ensure it can be fully recovered in case of any issues.
  • Regularly scanning your website for malware and promptly removing any threats to ensure your website’s continuous operation.

We do not offer refunds for any Website Care and Support services or any time that is unused.

None of your support packages fit my needs. Can you customize a package just for me?

Absolutely! Contact me and we can discuss your specific needs and come up with a plan that works for you.

Meredith Walters

Her warm “I’ll take care of you” personality is invaluable.

For years I had been putting off revamping my DIY website. It desperately needed to be a more professional representation of my business – but the process seemed overwhelming, expensive and time-consuming.

Thankfully, I met Liz, and through a quick series of fun, friendly and “non-over-whelming” video calls, I became comfortable putting this project (and any other, for that matter!) in her capable hands.

The process of completely revamping and redesigning could not have been more smooth and easy. Liz’s warm “I’ll take care of you” personality was invaluable – especially for someone who can get lost in techno-land. She has a great eye for design, layout and bringing her client’s vision to life online.

We have since added additional projects, like a dynamite sales page she designed for me – that I am able to copy and tweak each time I have a new offering. Through her WordPress Care & Support plan, she is now helping me keep my website current as well.

You will love working with Liz. She is the real deal!
